Attendance and Absence

Coming to school every day means, having lots of fun, time to play, making new friends and learning lots of new and exciting things.

Knights Enham Nursery and Infant School aims to work closely with our parents and carers to make sure our children come to school every day and on time. All our staff are dedicated to making sure that the children enjoy their learning with us and to receive the support required.  This can only happen with the help from the parent/carer by making sure that their child attends school every day and is on time, just missing a few minutes in the morning can upset the child’s routine for the day.

Attendance is a key concern of governors and also of the Ofsted inspection process - low attendance can change a grade at an inspection.

Hampshire County Council produced guidance to help guide our decisions about whether to authorise a request for absence during term time. If you are considering taking your child out of school then you need to ask in the office or print off from the link provided a request form which is passed to the Headteacher.

Knights Enham Nursery and Infant School request that all appointments where possible are either booked after school or made for the school holidays.

We open the classroom doors every morning between 8:40 and 8:45, school officially starts at 9:00 when the doors are closed promptly. After that time you must take your child to the office and sign them in.

If your child is unwell we ask that that you telephone the school, choosing option one and leave a message explaining why they are absent from school and when you think they will return.

There have been significant changes to the way in which schools now need to manage absence, including issuing penalty notices following unauthorised absences. Please see the notes for parents below, as well as guidance from Hampshire County Council (http://www3.hants.gov.uk/education/hias/learning-behaviour-attendance/attendance-guidance-for-parents.htm).
