This term our work will be based on London. We will begin with a visit from a theatre group who offer us a unique opportunity to experience the Great Fire of London. In history we will learn about this important event which will lead into our English learning where we will write a newspaper report and a diary. We will also learn about modern London and will base our learning around the book The Queens Hat. We will write our own version of this story. The Great Fire will also be our inspiration for art, DT and music. In science we will investigate the properties of building materials.
In maths we will be revising place value and addition and subtraction with larger numbers. We will recap multiplication and division and using ways to prove the answer. This will incorporate the use of money and measures to solve number related problems. In the second half of this term our theme will be Land ahoy! We will be exploring pirate language through drama and learning pirate poems and songs. We will be learning about seaside habitats and what animals can survive in the ocean and we will be having a seaside day at school.
