SPRING TERM 2020
In English we will base our learning around our first book “The Night Box” by Louise Greig where we will be learning to describe a setting. Our second book will be “Hoot Owl” by Sean Taylor and we will write a set of instructions on how to disguise yourself. In Science we will use the knowledge we have learned to complete a leaflet or poster about owls. We are learning about food chains and also observing changes through the season and weather. The children will have the opportunity to keep a bulb diary to record any observations and illustrations.
In maths the children will be focussing on problem solving and reasoning. The children will be asked to prove their answers and explain their reasoning to adults. We are learning to tell the time, name and describe 2D and 3D shapes and measure and record weight.
In art and design, the children will be studying the works of Van Gogh and painting their own version of Starry Night. We will also be making our own prints using our drawings of owls.
In cooking, the children will be learning basic cooking skills, making and tasting main course dishes.
In P.E the children will be learning the skills of and participating in New Age Kurling.
