Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of creativity. The children are given the opportunity to explore their own ideas as well as to take inspiration from artist studies. Children explore drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques. They learn to evaluate their work and to give and accept constructive criticism from their peers.
The children in Early Years have daily opportunities during discovery time, to explore a wide range of art and craft techniques. Children across the school enjoy regular adult led discrete art sessions. In Key Stage 1 the children study artists appropriate to their themed learning such as Picasso, Van Gogh and Jackson Pollock.
We use our beautiful grounds to inspire much of our work and take the opportunity to work outside on large scale projects and woodland based projects such as the clay bogarts that the children in Year 1 make during the spring term.
