How To Prepare For Nursery

Here are some ideas for what you can do to give your child the best start:

Encourage your child’s independence, in particular by helping them to:

  • Use the toilet independently
  • Put on & take off their coat and shoes
  • Cope with change

Encourage good social skills by encouraging your child to:

  • Say how they are feeling
  • Interact with other children
  • Share a toy with a friend

Encourage your child to say “please” and “thank you”

Encourage good listening skills and learning habits by:

Encouraging them to “have a go” and not to give up easily.

  • Listen to you and reply
  • Be curious and explore
  • Follow simple instructions and ask questions.
