Curriculum

At Knights Enham Nursery and Infant School, our values underpin our whole curriculum. They are:

Aim High, Be Respectful, Belong, Enjoy

We believe that every learner who joins our school should be entitled to a high quality, inclusive education that not only equips them with the necessary skills and knowledge to access the next stage in their education, but also foster a love of learning and develop a sense of self that that will stay with the children  for the rest of their educational lives and beyond.

Below is our Vision Statement and Curriculum Overview.

What does your child learn at school each day? Find information about our curriculum subjects below. If you would like any further information relating to our Curriculum, please speak to the class teacher.

As a Nursery and Infant school we have two underpinning curriculum documents to use and follow.

For our Nursery and Reception children (the Foundation Stage) we use Early Years Development Matters  which is the requirement for underpinning very young children’s learning and also how we observe and track progress. Click on the link below for more information. This is the same document that all providers use with children from birth up to the end of the Reception Year. Development Matters covers seven areas of learning and gives clear guidelines about what is expected of children at different ages / stages leading up to the Early Learning Goals for each area at the end of the Reception year.

For our Year One and Two children (Key Stage One) we use the National Curriculum which is the statutory requirement for all subsequent ages. The National Curriculum has recently been re-written but it still includes a range of subjects such as English, Maths, PE, Art, Music and History.

We believe that all our children have the right to

Powerful learning experiences – Feel safe and be happy – Be treated as individuals

We work together to respect

Everyone in our community regardless of difference

We realise that we all have a responsiblity to

Make the best contribution we can
